Department of Education

The Department of The Honours Department of Education came into being in the year 2015 under Utkal
University and afterwards it was shifted to Rama Devi Women’s University, Bhubaneswar.
At the beginning of the Honours subject University authority is pleased to sanction 32 seats
and later on after restructuring of Honours subjects of various departments now 20 students
are allowed to take admission under SAMS.
The Honours Department of Education has had a novel beginning and glorious achievement.
When the crisis of values has been a global concern, the Department of Education teaches our
students the mannerism along with profound faith in knowledge which ultimately focuses on
the transmission of knowledge to the people who stand at the bottom of society. From the
beginning of our department no student has secured second division which refers to the fact
that all students from 2014 to 2022 have got first division and two of our students have
secured 1 st class 1 st position in the academic session 2019-20 and 2020-21. They are Aparna
Sahoo and Madhusmita Das.
The Department of Education has organised UGC sponsored state level Two-Days Inter
Disciplinary Seminar from 11.04.2015 to 12.04.2015 and Dr. R. C. Malla, our H. OD, was
the organising secretary of the seminar. Apart from this we regularly organise Departmental
seminar and various competitions for enhancement of skill of debating, exposition and
exploration of hidden potentialities of the students.is one of the premier departments of Dhenkanal Mahila
Mahavidyalaya. The Honours programme of the department was started in the year 1982
under Utkal University and since 2015 it is functioning under Rama Devi Women’s
University, Bhubaneswar. The Department as a strength of 8 seats in its honours programmes
in an academic year. The seat allotment is made by the Govt of odisha through Student
Academic Management system (SAMS). It has a Seminar Library with latest editions of
books on various areas of Economics subject. Our Students organize various student seminars
on diverse topics. Our students have performed well in various examinations and
extracurricular activities and bagged various awards too.

Dr. Ramachandra Malla

Dr. Ramachandra Malla has 30 years of teaching experience both at private (Affiliate Degree
College) and Government college level. Dr. Malla has been awarded his Ph.D in January
2010 from Utkal University and the title of his Ph.D thesis is “An investigation into the status
of population Education in secondary schools of Odisha” He has guided more than 300 UG
Dissertations and 10 P.G Dissertations under IGNOU. He has also guided Post Graduate
Dissertations in multidisciplinary subjects like Journalism, Sociology & Rural Development
under Odisha State Open University.

Biswajit Behera

Sri Biswajit Behera has completed his MA from Ravenshaw University
in 2021. He joined Dhenkanal Mahila Mahavidyalaya in 2022. His
specialization is Econometrics and Financial Economics. He has
attended 2 workshops and 1 conference.
